Coding da Vinci Kick-Off, hackathon for open cultural data
Coding da Vinci, a cultural hackathon, combines the worlds of culture and technology. In 2022, Coding da Vinci will come to Baden-Württemberg and will once again show the surprising possibilities of open cultural data.
Do you have skills in software development, graphics applications or design, are you a hacker, are you an artist, make games, work in media or are you just interested in culture and want to develop new ideas with like-minded people? If so, Coding da Vinci Baden-Württemberg 2022 gives you the opportunity to connect with cultural institutions in your region to design a new approach to our digital cultural heritage: via apps, websites, VR/AR implementations, interactive installations, data visualization or whatever else comes to mind.
How does the da Vinci Coding work?
During the inaugural event on 7 and 8 May 2022 at ZKM Karlsruhe and online, representatives of cultural institutions will present their datasets, explain their origin and technical details, and answer your questions. Then the stage is set for your project ideas: present your ideas and form teams with other participants. For the rest of the weekend, you’ll be working on project ideas in your teams and together with representatives of cultural institutions, plotting and hacking together!
Sprint period and project development
Once you start, you have seven weeks to develop your projects. The organization of coordination and meetings in your teams is up to you. During this time, Coding da Vinci offers the opportunity to participate in meetings between teams, information sessions with experts in various fields and the exchange of ideas.
The award ceremony will take place on June 24, 2022 at the Dürnitz Kulturlounge of the Landesmuseum Württemberg in Stuttgart. The teams will present their projects in front of the jury and the audience, and the best projects in each category will be awarded.
